I am looking to establish a way to track changes to master records such that if the latest value of some fields in a master record is different from its previous version, it raises a validation error and the data stewards are requested to review linked golden records.
Is it possible to compare values of CurrentMasterRecord and oldMasterRecord as a validation?

As you'll see, the easiest way is to base yourself on the MH table, in your case as you want to monitor master change.
Then it will be up to you to explore the semql capabilities to try and meet your requirement.
Maybe something thanks to lookups?
